These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CareSplit ("the Service") at caresplit.biz. By signing in or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract. By using CareSplit you confirm you meet this requirement.
2. Your account
You sign in with Google. You are responsible for safeguarding your Google account and for all activity that happens under your CareSplit account. Notify us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Family workspaces
You can create one or more family workspaces. The user who creates a workspace is its initial admin and can invite other members. Members can record expenses, upload receipts, and view settlement calculations within that workspace.
Workspace data (expenses, receipts, members) is shared with everyone invited to that workspace. Be deliberate about who you invite. You can remove members from a workspace at any time; doing so revokes their future access but does not remove their historical contributions.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of laws applicable to you.
- Upload content you do not have the right to share, including others' private financial information without consent.
- Attempt to access another user's data, bypass authentication, or probe the Service for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated disclosure context.
- Interfere with the Service's operation, send spam invitations, or abuse the email-sending features.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or build a competing product using data extracted from the Service.
5. Your data
You retain ownership of the content you put into CareSplit (your family data, expenses, receipts). You grant us a limited licence to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate the Service. We do not claim ownership of your data, and we do not use it to train AI models.
You can export your family workspace data at any time from Settings → Export. The export is a ZIP of CSV files plus your uploaded receipts.
6. Money and settlements
CareSplit calculates suggested settlements but does not move money. We are not a payment processor, bank, lender, or money-transmission service. Any actual transfers between family members happen outside the Service through your own banking or payment apps.
Settlement computations are provided "as is" — please verify them against your own records before settling significant amounts.
7. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may suspend or modify the Service for maintenance, upgrades, or security reasons. Free-tier users in particular should not rely on CareSplit as the sole record of financial obligations — keep your own backups.
8. Pricing and changes
During the MVP/beta period the Service is free. If we introduce paid plans in the future we will notify you and you may continue to use any features that remain free or discontinue use. We may change features or pricing with reasonable notice.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can request account deletion at [email protected].
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or if we reasonably believe doing so is required by law. We'll give you notice when practical.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy. You use the Service at your own risk.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CareSplit and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for direct damages will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CareSplit and its operators from claims arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes arising out of these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
